How do I recover an open office fie on linux?

i have an asus laptop that runs on linux, and i have an important file that i did a lot of work on and then saved. it apparently reverted to a formerly saved version of the file, and I am wondering if/how I can recover the other version of the doent (I am sure I saved it).
