Some black kid hit me with his car when i was in the crosswalk?

so one night in febuarary i was on campus and was walking back to my dorm. i was in a crosswalk on my skateboard when all of a sudden this car runs the stop sign and plows right into me. luckily he stops and i get all his info. there was a witness to that said he saw me go under the car and thought i was a gonner. the kid hit me doing 10mph or so. i wasn't hurt so we agreed that he would pay for my skateboard since he broke it. i gave hima couple weeks and he didn't give me the money. i filed a complaint with my school security and he still didn't give me the money. so now after 2 months i have decided to take damn sbag to small claims court. i want to get the most revenge as possible. what should i do to teach this sbag a lesson for hitting me. i have a giant scar on my arm that wont go away and i am furious. what is the most money i should claim in small claims court. i was thinking about asking for $500
