Can someone explain Subconscious to me in a way that DOESNT piss me off?

Just a note - drugs of many sorts are quite good at popping the lid off the subconscious and letting more of it trickle or flood up into the conscious mind. The two minds don't speak quite the same language though, it can get weird.
